Breedon Aggregates Scotland Ltd. is run from its Head Office in Monifieth, Angus and 4 regional offices in Newburgh, Fife; Dunecht, Aberdeenshire; Elgin, Moray; and Dunbeg, Argyll & Bute, owning 21 working quarries, 15 asphalt coating plants, 26 working concrete plants, large contracting department, transport fleet and technical department covering the entire north of Scotland from the Forth/Clyde valley. Each unit is strategically located to provide an integrated service to our customers from raw material at the quarry to supplying asphalt and concrete products or placing these products on behalf of our customers. Breedon Aggregates Scotland Limited runs a series of independently accredited quality systems, these include Highways Sector Scheme accreditations for Asphalt Production and Laying, Kitemark accreditation for Ready Mixed Concrete and UKAS accreditation for our laboratories, in short every part of our business is quality assured. Ensuring we remain at the forefront, we are members of numerous trade associations and professional bodies taking a proactive approach to the development of our industry and as such, we have directors and representatives sitting on various industry and client lead committees such as: the Mineral Products Association; the Road Surface Treatment Association (RSTA) the Thin Surfacing Forum (Transport Scotland) and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA). Breedon Aggregates Scotland Limited holds a 37.5% shareholding in BEAR Scotland Ltd and a 75% majority holding in Alba Traffic Management Ltd. Breedon Aggregates Scotland Limited was created in September 2010 when the former Ennstone UK business was acquired by Marwyn Materials Ltd, an AIM listed company created to take advantage of opportunities arising in the aggregates sector. Now led by Chairman, Peter Tom, Chief Executive, Simon Vivian and Finance Director, Ian Peters the Breedon Aggregates Group board have a wealth of industry experience.
The former Ennstone business was acquired from a consortium of banks who had rescued UK operations of the Ennstone group which went into administration in March 2009.
With strong shareholder backing Breedon raised £50M in fundraising in April 2013 to fund major acquisitions to grow its English and Scottish business. The acquisitions completed on 1st May 2013.
